BIP Erasmus & The Cinematography of Today Conference

Still Photography for Cinematography Students, Lisbon, 22–26 June 2026 & The Cinematography of Today Conference 24-26 June 2026

This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), coordinated by Universidade Lusófona (Lisbon), unites students from Lusófona University, HdM Stuttgart (Germany), INSAS Brussels (Belgium), and UMH Elche (Spain).

Through virtual sessions and a one-week in-person workshop in Lisbon, the program explores the dialogue between still photography and cinematography. Students will create an individual photographic series or video essay capturing Lisbon’s architecture, urban life, and multicultural identity. Works will be shot over at least two consecutive days, processed with artistic techniques in the laboratory, and exhibited publicly on the final day.

The program draws inspiration from masters such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Garry Winogrand, Vivian Maier, Saul Leiter, and Alex Webb, while examining how photographic vision can enrich cinematic language.

This BIP will be immediately followed by (and partially overlap with) the Cinematography of Today conference (Lisbon, 24–26 June 2026), which brings together cinematographers from around the world to present their latest research and creative work.
